What is a Documentary Family Photographer?

The family photos I have from my childhood seem sterile and removed from what life was actually like at that time. Rarely were our days spent all six of us wearing matching red-turtlenecks and hanging out under the bright lights of a small portrait studio…

In straightforward terms, documentary family photography is the process of capturing honest moments, un-staged and un-contrived, of everyday life.

I believe authentic and candid images will last a lifetime. The main reason I do this is to help people relive the memories of their very precious family time together.

Family Photography with Rob Morgan

My friend Andrew McMahon sharing a moment side-stage, listening to the opener before his show.

What began as a spark of curiosity while on tour in Japan, has now turned into something… more.

As I began documenting life on the road, artists & musicians began inviting me into their homes once the tour was over, asking if I would capture that part of their life as well.

Shooting in the same, candid style, I created a timeless memory of them and their loved ones.

My clients love the fact that they get honest, authentic memories of these extraordinary times.
